In Greene County district court Alex Garron Treft, 31, of Grand Junction was sentenced Jan. 5 to one year in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of criminal mischief- third degree. The prison term was suspended. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge. Treft was sentenced to one year in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of assault causing injury or mental illness. The jail term was also suspended and he was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Corrections for two years. He was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge and a $90 domestic abuse assault surcharge on the assault charge. He must complete the Iowa domestic abuse program at his own expense. He must pay an amount not to exceed $1,000 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $297.56 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Cindy Jo Sheehy, 62, of Grand Junction was sentenced to 90 days in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana. The jail term was suspended and she was placed on informal probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. Sheehy was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. Court costs were $100. A case against her in magistrate court on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. She must pay $60 court costs in that case. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Avery Dawn Madison, 23, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana; Jessie James Sanders, 20, of Churdan, possession of marijuana; Lia Napuaanuhea Lenchanko, 18, of Jefferson, assault causing bodily injury or mental illness; and Austin Jesse Forkner, 34, of Scranton, operating while intoxicated. Trial dates were set for Feb. 28 for Madison, Sanders and Lenchanko, and for April 28 for Forkner.
Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Justin Ray Lopez, 22, of Jefferson, driving while license barred; Devin Julian Villalobos, 21, of Jefferson, operating while intoxicated; and Wilson Jeovany Agustin Salvador, 32, of Perry, possess fictitious license or ID.
